WELLERS BAY INCORPORATED

Friends of Wellers Bay Inc. (FOWB, for short) is a membership-driven, registered charity supported by a volunteer board of local residents and property owners from across the region, on and off the shoreline. Originally, established in 1987 and incorporated in 1989. The original object of the corporation were to: provide education and advice on ways to restore and preserve the ecological environment of Wellers Bay; and provide the resources necessary for the preservation and protection of the ecological environment of Wellers Bay. The main focus was to dredge open a channel between Lake Ontario and the Bay and install and maintain a break-wall in that vicinity, for the health of the Bay. The Corporation also sought to provide information to the public for the purpose of promoting and enhancing the Wellers Bay environment and to liaise with others who would carry on similar objects. Our continued focus is on environmental protection and community development. We actively engage with the local community and regulatory authorities to maintain the health and safety of the bay and to promote its enjoyment.
