HESED COMMUNITY INC.

The Hesed Community is an intergenerational, sex-positive, body-positive, interfaith housing cooperative dedicated to simple, sustainable living. The Hesed Community is a Christian meditation community and was founded in 1981 in Oakland, California. Our community life is based upon Benedictine spirituality; our mission is the teaching and practice of Christian Meditation as taught by John Main, OSB. Our ongoing daily half-hour meditations are on zoom at 7 am and 7 pm. An hour long John Main meditation, with Lectio Divina, is on Mondays at 4 pm. Hesed Community Church is a developing church in the neighborhoods of Detroit. It is a joint effort of the Christian Reformed Church and Reformed Church of America. With a specific mandate to impact disinvested areas of Detroit, Hesed is part of anetwork of urban churchesthat have a track record of truly loving and being present with the people of the inner city areas. We are currently living that out in the Brightmoor and Morningside neighborhoods of Detroit.
