Fella Films is an award-winning production company with operations in Canada and Los Angeles. Led by producer/filmmaker Thomas Michael, Fella Films has produced film and TV projects for companies such as UNIVERSAL PICTURES, SONY, NETFLIX, HBO, ABC, IFC, SCREEN MEDIA, MAGNOLIA, SHOWTIME, LIFETIME, BOUNCE TV, BELL MEDIA and eONE. Our films have featured major Hollywood talent such as Lena Headey, Ron Perlman, Harvey Keitel, Mickey Rourke, Bella Thorne, Henry Winkler, and more — have been sold internationally, and premiered and won awards at some of the most prestigious festivals in the world (TIFF, CANNES, TELLURIDE, PALM SPRINGS, KARLOVY VARY, SITGES, AUSTIN). Fella Films develops original works, international co-productions, and is also a premiere service-production company in Canada. With years of experience in navigating the Canadian tax credit systems, as well as deep relationships with national and provincial distributors and funders, Fella Films is passionately devoted to creating a diverse and extensive slate of projects designed to be cost-effective and commercially successful while never ever compromising quality and creativity. Thomas Michael founded Fella Films, and since 2005, the company has produced five feature films: Greg and Gentillon (Winner - DISCOVERY AWARD - 2005 Calgary Int’l Film Festival), released in Canada by Alliance Films; Hank and Mike, starring Joe Mantegna and Chris Klein (KARLOVY VARY INT’L FILM FESTIVAL), released theatrically by Magnolia Pictures in the U.S. and in Canada by eONE; Running Mates (Winner - BEST COMEDY at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival and nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award for BEST WRITING), starring legendary icon Henry Winkler; Backcountry (World premiere - 2014 TORONTO INT’L FILM FESTIVAL, SITGES, PALM SPRINGS, WHISTLER). Backcountry was released theatrically in the US by IFC Midnight, becoming their top performing film of 2015. Fella Films recently completed principal photography on thriller, Nowhere and has two more films slated for production in 2019/2020.
